This matcha scoop (chashaku) in century-old soot-soaked bamboo is made by hand in Takayama, Japan, by 24th generation chasen-master Kubo Masaki, recognized as National Living Treasure for his skills.
Sold in a beautiful box that makes it a very nice present for all matcha tea lovers, it is the perfect companion to the white, dark or long-handled handmade bamboo matcha whisks made by Kubo sensei.
A chashaku is used for measuring and transferring matcha powder into a tea bowl. One spoon is about 2g of powder, the exact quantity needed for one serving of matcha or houjicha powder.
Remark: Due to the age of the bamboo used for making this scoop (100 years old), scratches may be present, but are not a default.
Cleaning instructions: use a damp cloth to wipe down the tea scoop after each use. Do not use soap.
